Tour Routes in the Yaluzhangbu Grand Canyon

    # Route 1 Pai District Milin County- Duoxiangla - Nage - Hanmi - Maniweng - Beibeng

It is a traditional route from the northern steep of Himalaya to the lower reaches of the Grand Canyon that normally takes the hikers three days. Taking this route, the hikers will climb the 4,200 meter high Duoxiongla Mountain, passing Nage and afterwards down to Hanmi and Maniweng. The “Tiger Mouth” after Hanmi is an extremely dangerous place where each year lots of transportation accidents occur. One can go across from Manaweng to the District of Beibeng (the latitude goes down to only 700 meters) through an iron chain bridge.

# Route 2 Pai District Milin - Daduka - Gega - Jiala

After Jiala there is no road any more in the depopulated zone and one can only advance along the river for another week until reaching “White Horse and Bear.” On both sides of the river there go upright sharp cliffs and bluffs.

# Route 3

From Palong on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, along the lower reaches of the Palongzhangbu River Valley downwards and down the Luoma Passage for three days, one gets to the Zhaqu Village on top of the canyon. Taking the newly built iron chain bridge to Dabo to cross the canyon and three days after exploring the primitive forest, one will be in the Bayu Village at the turning of the canyon. From there one can go to Motuo passing Lugu, Gandai and Jiaresha.

# Route 4

After crossing the Gu Village Lake of the Palongzhangbu River, one can climb the Suila Mountain (4,400 meters above the sea level) and get down from its southwest side, and then one will finally reach the Jiaresha zone of the canyon. This route takes three days on the twisted mountainous road.

# Route 5

From Zhamu Township southwards along the northern side of Galongla, cross the Galongla Mountain (4,200 meters above the sea level), one then goes down from its southwestern side. Passed 64 KM and 86 KM (64 KM and 86 KM are two place names on the Bomo Highway) along the Galonglanan River one may finally get to the Damu beside the canyon. This route is known for its good highway conditions. In good weather one can even drive until 64 KM. If nothing prevents, one will reach Motuo within two days.

# Route 6

From Bomi eastwards to Daxin, cross the Palongzhangbu River and along the Daxin River upwards to its origin. Climb the Jinzhu Mountain (5,030 meters above the sea level) and pass Jinzhula, the District of Tiqing (Gedang) and the Leech Mountain and finally reach the Grand Canyon. 4-5 days on foot.
