Sports Activities in Gongbu- Shooting the Screaming Arrow

Gongbu people are proud of their sports activities, among which, shooting the screaming arrow is probably the most famous. It is called “Bixiu” in Tibetan with the meaning of “sharply screaming”. The screaming arrow was derived from the local people’s daily activities in Gongbu over 1,500 years ago. Now it has become a very important entertainment played in festivals and celebrations. This game has been classified as a traditional sport of minority nationality by the central government.
