The Liangbu Lusu Festival

The Liangbulushu Festival (in Tibetan it means the Liangbu People seeking treasures), a Ben festival, is known for its long duration and large number of participants. Falling on the 10th of August, Tibetan Calendar, it has a history of more than 600 years. The “treasures” that the Liangba People searched for were the precious stones that were lined with the local agricultural production and fortunes. After being taken away by the people from Dingqing, Gongbu started to be haunted by countless disasters and diseases. On the 10th of August each year, the date the precious stone was taken away and sold, people in Gongbu will carry out such activities as sacrifice, horse racing, dancing and singing to call back the God. This is the tradition for this special festival. Today during the festival some trade fairs are also held in Nyingchi.
