Upon your arrival at the airport, our guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to have a good rest.

Potala Palace
After breakfast, we will visit the world famous attraction, Potala Palace. Situated on the Red Hill of Lhasa, Potala Palace is the highest ancient palace in the world. It was the chief residence for Dalai Lamas and enjoyed a great reputation in architecture. After lunch, there is a visit to Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor Street around the temple. Enjoying the same fame with Potala, Jokhang Temple is the most celebrated temple in Tibet. It is the spiritual center of Tibetans. Around Jokhang Temple is the ancient Barkhor Street. It is a popular devotional circumambulation for pilgrims and locals. Barkhor Street, often called the “window of Tibet” is famous for its shopping. You’ll find characteristic Tibetan shops one by one.

Yomdrok Lake
Today our trip starts at Yamdrok Lake. Yamdrok Lake is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. It is a kind of low salt lake formed by the snow melted water from the snow capped mountains nearby. The lake looks like a holy sapphire and attracts many local Tibetans and visitors from other places come here for pilgrimage or sightseeing. Then our guide and driver will escort you from Lhasa to Shigates. Lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant. On the way to Shigates, visit the Palgor Chorten. It is 270 kilometers south of Lhasa and 100 kilometers east of Shigates. The Palgor Chorten is a kind of typical Tibetan Buddhism monastery architecture combined stupa and temple. With temples in the stupa, stupas in the temple. The stupas and temples stay harmoniously and bring out the best in each other. It has a great significance in Tibetan Buddhism architecture.

Tashilunpo Kloster
After breakfast, visit the Tashilunpo Monastery. Tashilunpo Monastery, regarded as the Tibetan Buddhist center of Rear Tibet, is the most popular attraction in Shigates. The monastery is located at the foot of Drolmari (Tara’s Mountain) of Shigates. It was founded by the first Dalai Lama in 1447, and expanded by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. As a must-see spot for travelers and Buddhist followers, Tashilunpo Monastery plays a very important role for Tibetan Tourism. After that, go back to Lhasa with our private vehicle. Lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant.

Lake Namtso
Today our guide will lead you to Yangpachen and Namtso Lake. About 80 kilometers away from Lhasa, Yangpachen gains its fame from the abundant geothermic heat which provides people with much to explore. The hot spring here is in the open air and attracts lots of tourists. After lunch, move to Namtso Lake. Namtso Lake, which means “Heavenly Lake”in Tibetan, is the second largest saltwater lake in China. Meanwhile, it is the highest attitude saltwater lake in the world. The water here is crystal-clear blue. The clear skies join the surface of the lake in the distance. It seems that the soul of every visitor who has ever been here would be cleansed by the pure lake water.

How to avoid altitude sickness.
In general, most healthy people will experience altitude sickness when travel into Tibet for at least two days. People will get sick and headache when in altitude over 3,000 meters (9,843 feet) is usually defined as high altitude. Since most places in Tibet are higher than this level, Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), also called Altitude Sickness is the biggest health risk to tourists in Tibet. Lhasa sits at a heady 3,650 meters (11,500 feet), and it is one of the lower altitude destinations in Tibet. We suggest prepare far enough in advance before the trip by some aerobic exercise and a thorough physical examination is necessary.
